The holidays are here and I'm woefully behind. It's amazing how much
time babies take out of the work day. Luckily, my little Baby Bun is
starting to stick to a schedule I can work around and I expect to have
more pieces made after the holidays.
Why after the holidays?
because I have a sever case of tendonitis and I can't crochet. I'll be
taking a short break over the holidays and hopefully let things rest. My
shop will be closing on the evening of Thursday, 20 December, and will
reopen on Christmas Day, because I'm terrible about taking breaks.
If I don't get a chance to write a new post before then,
Joyous Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Jolly Kwanza, and have a wonderful New
It's Thanksgiving in the United States and I am most thankful to you. Yes, you! You there reading this blog.
It is you who have provided me with the support, encouragement, and love to continue working at Moon's Creations to support my family. We may have scary months when bills are high and paychecks are low, but we always manage to land on our feet. It's only because of you that we can do have done it and continue to do it.
Maybe it’s having just finished watching the 2nd season of Walking Dead
or perhaps the long sleepless nights with a newborn, but nothing seemed
more perfect to add to Moon’s Creations than a horde of Zombie Octopus! Available for purchase here!
It is with a heavy heart that I must cancel this year's 31 Amigurumi in October series. While I have a few pieces finished, I don't feel I would have the time/energy to get them all complete without the quality suffering. I plan to make up for it with a month long event later in 2013.
This is my last week of maternity leave! My little Moon Bun and I are
still trying to work the kinks out of our schedule with feedings,
diaperings, comfortings, and making Moon Buns full-time, but we hope to
be back in the swing of things soon.
There are a lot of lovely
designs that have never been offered at Moon's Creations waiting to be
uploaded next week when the shop officially opens on October 1st. I hope
to post a few preview photos this week.
The 31 Amigurumi in
October series is looking iffy, but I'm going to buckle down and get to
work on it this week. Cross your fingers for me.
Just one week left until Moon's Creations closes it's doors for at least 2 months as we welcome our little Moon Bun into the world.
This means you have only 1 week left to pick up pieces in the Moon's Creations shop. Pieces are not being relisted. What's currently in the shop, is all that's left. Please be sure to get what you want now. I cannot guarantee pieces will be there when we return, as I'm using this maternity leave to revamp the entire store.
Momma Moon's got an entire nursery to put together for the August arrival and hasn't had the chance with running Moon's Creations, so I'm definitely looking forward to a little nesting.
I must admit I've been a terrible blogger lately. I can't believe there is less than a month before closing Moon's Creations for maternity leave. Be sure to grab your favorites now, because I'm not sure how often I'll get to my studio once my own little Moon Bun arrives. <3
Since our last post, I've added some Manly Moon Buns.
These Manly Men were inspired by real men in a celebration of their facial follicles.
I've also added 8 new Octo-buns! Lots of new colors and so squiggly!
Three Newborn Moon Buns have also been delivered!
While 3 Owlets have taken up roost.
I'm particularly excited to finally offer these beautiful amigurumi bonsai trees. They were featured at last year's Plush You show in Seattle and are now available for purchase directly at Moon's Creations!
Each tree is custom made to fit inside a vintage ceramic and feature clay Moon Bun stick pins that can be repositioned.
For more information about any of these new pieces, please click the image!
As you may have heard, I am expecting and due in late August. To prepare for the little one's arrival, I will be closing Moon's Creations on July 19th.
That's less than 2 months away and I must admit I'm scared to close my shop for such a long time, because Moon's Creations is my only job. However, we must do what we must and apparently having a baby takes a lot out of you. (Or so I'm told.)
The store will remain closed until October 1st, in time for this year's 31 Amigurumi in October. (It's such a tradition, I just can't skip it, even with a one month old.)
Our last show of 2012, will be Otakon in Baltimore (July 27-29). I hope to see you there!
There are lots of new items arriving at Moon's Creations!
The first is a bit of a joke, because it's the Not a Bunny Market Bag. I've been using these bags for myself for over year, but every grocery day, so one tries to buy my bags. Now they are in the shop. I hope to add a variety of new colors soon, but they do take a while to make, so it will be slow going.
If you've seen me at any shows in the past year, you may recognize these little moss balls. If not, well I've been hiding these Marimo, because honestly I love them! They are fuzzy and sweet.
Also new to the shop including Strawberries and Strawberry Moon Buns! So cute, but they make me want to eat strawberries. I think I have a few in the fridge calling my name. haha!
I hope to add a few more items to the shop next week. Have a great weekend!
Moon's Creations celebrated its 5 year anniversary this March. As is
tradition, I've created a special edition Tsuki Moon Bun commemorating
Tsuki is the mascot of Moon's Creations. There are only 5 of this
very special Moon Bun being offered. Once this design sells out, it will
not be made again. This design will only be available through Moon's
Creations on Etsy.
I've been so busy in the Bunny Mines, I completely missed Moon's Creations' 5th Anniversary.
To make up for it, I've created a fun contest, where the winner gets to have a custom Moon Bun of their design for FREE.
How do you win your special Moon Bun?
Here are the contest details!
Eligibility: Anyone can enter this contest!
How to enter: Either download a Moon Bun pdf here to print out and draw your design on or draw your own Moon Bun design using your preferred art media. Upload your design to the Moon Bun Lovers Flickr pool here. If you don’t have a Flickr account, it is free and easy to register (though we recommend signing up as soon as possible, because it takes a little time for your account to be approved for sharing photos in a group).
Please keep your entries to one per person.
Judging: Winners will be picked by us at Moon's Creations, but the Flickr pool is open to be seen by everyone. We will be focusing on creativity in this contest, and not just looking for pretty images.
Deadline: The last day to enter the contest is Monday, May 7, 2012. The winner will be announced within a week afterwards.
Thank you for another wonderful convention, Boston!
I got to meet so many wonderful artists and fans. It's so different to receive a compliment on your artwork on the internet versus getting one in person. I'm always so touched. You were all wonderful and I wish this show never ended.
Due to preparing for Anime Boston and fighting a terrible case of pregnancy-brought on carpal tunnel syndrome, I missed Moon's Creations' anniversary. So all the fun will be held this month instead, including limited addition anniversary dolls, and a fun contest, where you can draw your dream Moon Bun. The winner will have their design made for free!
Announcements and listings will be made available on Monday!
haha! I know I always seem to lament the swift passing of time, but really? where did the month go?
I've been fighting with a pretty bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome too from the pregnancy. Ah! I hate being so inactive or spending weeks on something that would usually take me days.
Ok, enough venting from me. This weekend, I'll be at Anime Boston! Whoo! Whoo!
Check out this great map, Kelly, of Kelly's Keychains and my booth buddy in crime, made:

I hope to see lots of familiar faces there! This is probably one of my most favorite conventions, because Boston is just entirely too nice for it's own good. If I could ever give up my mountains for a city, I'd want to live in Boston.
