Luv-able & Hug-able

The Moon Buns will be appearing at the 3rd annual
Luv-able & Hug-able Exhibt
theme: medium and mini!

December 3, 2009 - January 9, 2010

If you're in the New York area, please give my little Moon Buns a friendly greeting!

From the gallery hanahou website:

"OPENING PARTY December 3 (Thu) 6-9pm
Holiday Plush Workshop with Jenny Harada Dec 19 (Sat) 1-4 pm

RSVP for either event: info@galleryhanahou.com

The popular NY holiday plush show is returning to gallery hanahou with oodles of handmade plushes for you and yours! Spread warm holiday cheer with adorable, strange, and funny unique plush toys made by more than 50 top plush artists from around the world.

The plushes will be even cuter and more affordable at this year's 3rd annual "Luv-able and Hug-able," with the special theme of "Medium and Mini!": toys that are either just the right size for hugging or small enough to fit in your pocket, swing from a keychain, or be worn on a pin.

Participating artists include returning favorites Christina Gordon of Jam Fancy, Anna Chambers, Robyn Fabsits, and Heidi Kenney, plus a bunch of hug-able new artists, among them APAK!, Elisabeth Doherty of Gourmet Amigurumi, and Sandra Monat of herzensart. As in previous years, gallery hanahou will also exhibit plushes by Japanese artists whose original works are rarely available in the US - this year, that also includes designer toy giants Devil Robots and noriya takeyama!

Plushes will be available for immediate take-home, so come early to the December 3rd opening to nab your favorites! Items in the show will also be available via our online shop starting the week following the opening."

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Moon Bun

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

So sweet!

This is a New York Lottery commercial, but the beginning is so adorable, I just had to share it will all of you!

If you were a candy man
with eyes made of gumdrops
a heart filled with marzipan
then I'd tell you so soft
that I wouldn't share
'cause no one can have you but me
you're so sweet
you're so sweet.

Amu's World

While at Nekocon, I met a fantastic artist, who makes the most delightful little amigurumi. (She also made some beautiful clothing for ball-joint dolls, that I hope to own in the near future.) I'm always so amazed with artists who can work with such light yarns!

I was lucky enough to get my greedy little hands on a ninja, which was quickly removed from me by Mr. Moons upon my arrival at home. Since then I've suffered at least one ninja attack every day.

Visit Amu's World, where these cute little ninjas have their own webcomic!

Socially Skilled's Red Poppy Pattern

Every year, Veteran's Day makes me want to cry.
In Canada, Rememberance Day is so powerful. It's a time to give respect to all those who have given their utmost for their country. While in the United States, Veteran's Day is a time to sell cars and furniture.

Socially Skilled has created a beautiful Red Poppy pattern for today and I just couldn't not feature it.

The Red Poppy became a symbol of Veteran's and their ultimate sacrifice from the beautiful poem written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae of the Canadian Army.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Nekocon, The Aftermath

Bunny Thank You Card set of four by ArgyleWhale

Still recovering from the Nekocon Anime Convention in Hampton, VA, but technically, I'm back to work in the Bunny Mines!

Thank you to all of the wonderful people who took the time to stop by and visit my little Moon Buns. It's always so rewarding to share my artwork in person.

I'd also like to thank all of the wonderful staff and artists at this convention. I had a terrific time and will definitely be back again next year.
