Helping those in Haiti

I'm sure many of you have already heard about the earthquake in Haiti.
If you're looking for a way to help, there are two very good organizations you can donate to.

The first is Yele.org. This is a charitable organization formed by the singer Wyclef Jean. They also offer the option of texting "YELE" to 501501 and donating $5.

The second is The Red Cross. They also offer the option of texting “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross relief for Haiti.

Please help if you can.

New Year = New Moon Buns

I've been wanting to make this Moon Bun set ever since I started Moon's Creations and finally here it is! This is a one-of-a-kind (OoAK) piece that depicts the Asian Legend of the Moon Rabbit.

The Moon Rabbit, is a rabbit that lives on the moon in East Asian folklore. The legends about the moon rabbit are based on the markings of the moon, which appear to be a rabbit pounding in a mortar. In Japanese folklore, the rabbit is pounding mochi. Mochi is a Japanese rice cake made of glutinous rice pounded into paste and molded into shape. While eaten year-round, mochi is a traditional food for the Japanese New Year.

I also made 7 additional Moon Buns for New Years. Each is wearing a vest made of vintage kimono fabrics and with a New Year's Mochi cake. Here are a few of my favorites!

I love this fabric!

Moon's Creations is reopened!

Moon's Creations is reopened.
Thank you for bearing with me.

There are many new things happening for my little store. One big thing is new product lines. The first line is the "Limited Edition Chinese New Year Tiger Kitty-gurumi." These darling pieces are made especially for this coming Lunar New Year of the Tiger on February 14th.

These Tigers are limited to only 5, so grab one before they're all gone.

Also new for Moon's Creations are new tags! I've always wanted to add tags to my pieces and finally here they are!
Yay!

Happy new year, everyone.
I'm very sorry again for the unexpected and unexplained hiatus.
On Christmas day, my older sister suddenly passed, due to a pulmonary embolism. She was only 34.

At this time, Moon's Creations is set to re-open on January 11th. However commissions and custom orders will remain closed until a later date.

There are several new designs that will be released, including:
Limited New Year Tigers
Limited New Year Moon Buns
A one-of-a-kind New Year Moon Bun set
Ground Hogs
Valentine's Moon Buns

Saturday, December 26, 2009

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience, but due to a personal matter, I need to close Moon's Creations, all new commissions and custom orders. If you already have a custom order, I will continue to work on it, but it may be a few additional days later than originally planned.

Again, I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Luv-able & Hug-able

The Moon Buns will be appearing at the 3rd annual
Luv-able & Hug-able Exhibt
theme: medium and mini!

December 3, 2009 - January 9, 2010

If you're in the New York area, please give my little Moon Buns a friendly greeting!

From the gallery hanahou website:

"OPENING PARTY December 3 (Thu) 6-9pm
Holiday Plush Workshop with Jenny Harada Dec 19 (Sat) 1-4 pm

RSVP for either event: info@galleryhanahou.com

The popular NY holiday plush show is returning to gallery hanahou with oodles of handmade plushes for you and yours! Spread warm holiday cheer with adorable, strange, and funny unique plush toys made by more than 50 top plush artists from around the world.

The plushes will be even cuter and more affordable at this year's 3rd annual "Luv-able and Hug-able," with the special theme of "Medium and Mini!": toys that are either just the right size for hugging or small enough to fit in your pocket, swing from a keychain, or be worn on a pin.

Participating artists include returning favorites Christina Gordon of Jam Fancy, Anna Chambers, Robyn Fabsits, and Heidi Kenney, plus a bunch of hug-able new artists, among them APAK!, Elisabeth Doherty of Gourmet Amigurumi, and Sandra Monat of herzensart. As in previous years, gallery hanahou will also exhibit plushes by Japanese artists whose original works are rarely available in the US - this year, that also includes designer toy giants Devil Robots and noriya takeyama!

Plushes will be available for immediate take-home, so come early to the December 3rd opening to nab your favorites! Items in the show will also be available via our online shop starting the week following the opening."
