Moon's Creations is going on Vacation

Well, not really.
I wish I could say I was going on vacation. A bit of sand and sun would do me wonders.
Instead, I will be working on getting together stock for Anthrocon in Pittsburgh this July. It's my first convention outside of the anime/gaming nature and I'm also going solo, so I've got to make sure this convention is a success.

To do this, I'm going to be closing up shop on May 28th and won't reopen until July 10th.

Please wish me luck and if you'd like follow along in the behind the scenes prep work, please consider joining us over at my Patreon!

Holiday Dolls and a Holiday Sale!

Oh my goodness! My fingers have been busy! I've been making all sorts of little dolls for the holiday season.

My goal is to have them all listed by Thanksgiving. I only have one more to complete and that's because it accidentally got put into the wrong work bag.

All of the dolls featured here are currently available for purchase!

Holiday Shoppers, here are my order cut-off dates for the season if you need a doll delivered by December 24th:
United States Destination - Order by December 15
International Destinations - Order by December 1

Moon's Creations will be closing for the holidays on December 16th and reopening in the new year. I have little children who need some attention from their mother. Thank you for your understanding.

31 Amigurumi in October: Day 15

Today's Moon Bun for 31 Amigurumi in October is a Zorua. I was not familiar with this dark-type Pokemon, but it's so spooky-cute! According to Bulbapedia,
Zorua can change its physical appearance, though this transformation is merely an illusion as it keeps its own type and moves. Zorua keeps its true form hidden to ensure its safety, and takes on the appearance of other Pokemon to frighten off enemies. Sometimes it will take the form of a silent child.
Aww! I love Pokemon which are based off of yokai, because yeah, I will always and forever love yokai.

And then we get to an iconic character, Beetlejuice! The prompt for October Create a Day was Beetlejuice and I stuck with it. After making him, I thought about why I didn't make another character, but that will be for another October. I really wanted to remake this doll in my improved style.

Yep, a long 31 Amigurumi in October ago, I made a Beetlejuice Moon Bun and I've always wanted to remake his design in the striped suit again.

Announcement Time!
I will be attending my first ever Anthrocon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in July 2018! That's right! I got my confirmation. I'm going to Zombie Capitol of the world Pittsburgh!*

* I've never been to Pittsburgh before, but it is Zombie Capitol in mind thanks to George Romero.

Made to Order

Over the month of January, new “Made to Order” listings will be appearing at Moon’s Creations. These are designs which I have made in the past.

Previously, I have kept a large stock of dolls on hand. This has become a huge time sink for me as I’ve increased my inventory. Spending so much of my time restocking dolls, which may or may not sell, has kept me from stocking fun designs I have wished to revisit. I want to change this in the new year.

Productivity will greatly benefit from this change, because I’ll have more time to devote on dolls people truly want and not dolls I think people will like. In addition, this move will free up studio time to create entirely new dolls.

“Made to Order” dolls will take 1 to 2 weeks to ship. Because these dolls will be made as they are ordered, I will be able to offer small custom  changes, such as yarn color. Orders placed containing stock and “Made to Order” items will ship together to save on shipping fees.

Here’s to a fantastic New Year and lots of new Moon Buns!

13 Buns of Halloween - Skeleton Moon Bun + Small-sized Moon Buns

The 2nd doll for the 13 Buns of Halloween, a spooky Skeleton Moon Bun!
Have you noticed the theme yet? I was inspired by the Halloween costumes marketed towards babies, with their comical hats. I always think the look like the costume is eating the child.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/MoonsCreations?section_id=6312031

You can now purchase a small sized Moon Bun directly from any basic Moon Bun listing! Simply select the "Small - 2.75" (7cm)" option from the Options Menu.

I'm Back!

Thanks to everyone for their kind support, I'm back online and slowly getting all the programs up and running on the new computer.

The amount of work ahead of me is a little overwhelming, but one thing at a time. Thank you for your patience!

As a big thank you, I'll have a mini-event this October, The 13 Days of Halloween. Running on weekdays, starting on October 14th, I'll post a special Moon Bun celebrating Halloween and my wonderfully supportive followers.

Vacation Times!

Just a reminder my darlings, I'll be closing shop tonight to start my stay-cation through the 27th, while I refresh and recharge my creativity. Just the thought of letting my mind rest has already resulted in some great ideas!

I'll be back at the end of January with new designs.

End of the year, 36-hour sale!

What's up my little buttercups?
I've done it again and been away far too long.

I hope your December treated you well.

At Moon's Creations, we're preparing to clear our shelves for the new dolls of 2014.
Which means! Dun-dun-dun-dun!
SALE TIMES!

Starting at noon on December 30th (that's eastern standard time) select items will be discounted 40% off. The sale will end when the ball drops on the East Coast at Midnight on New Years morning.

For any nay-sayers who are rolling their eyes saying, "yeah, yeah, but she never puts the dolls I want on sale." Nay-say no more! More than 1/3rd of the shop will be on sale.

That's crazy!
I know, I know. But I don't want to keep looking at these dolls for another year. Get them out of the Bunny Mines and into good homes. I need a fresh start in the new year.

*

While I'm making big announcements, I should mention I will be closing shop for a personal break from January 10th through 27th. Every year, around October, I burn out and need a break, but because of the holiday season, I can't take the needed break, so I power through and as I'm incredibly forgetful, I book myself with work straight through the new year.

Not this year. Oh no! I'm taking a break, so I can come back to the studio refreshed.

October 16:

October 16: Tucker and Dale Moon Buns

Available at Moon's Creations.

I just recently discovered Tucker and Dale vs. Evil and love it! You should watch it too if you haven't. Although, I'm a big fan of Alan Tudyk and all he does.

We're at the halfway point in the 31 Amigurumi in October series. I hope you've enjoyed the series so far!

Otakon - Baltimore, MD

Moon’s Creations will be at Otakon’s Artist Alley (August 9-11) with a lot of very swank artists. I tried to make a little map to help everyone find us, but I don’t know how to computer. I hope it makes sense!

Here’s a list with all the amazing members of the “S" group. Make sure you stop by, say hello, and maybe get some amazing art!
I'll be closing our shop down until August 12th, tonight after I get BabyBun to sleep. Hope to see you there!

State of the Moon

Whew!
I can't believe it's already been a week since AnimeNext. Where has the time gone?

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the table, gave a Moon Bun a home, and especially for all the birthday wishes! A huge THANK YOU to pronouncedyou for tending my table all weekend! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Sadly, going to this convention showed me that I need to take a step back from shows for a while and be a mom. I'll still honor my commitments to Otakon and Nekocon, if I get in, but after those two I won't be at any more until BabyBun is older. I'll still try one day, craft show-like events, but these 3 day affairs are too much stress.

As for goings on here, BabyBun has mastered the art of crawling and is really pushing the learning-to-walk thing, so I've barely a moment's peace and zero time in the BunnyMines. My plan is to photograph convention leftovers as soon as the weather agrees (what is with these storms?), then restock basic Moon Buns, and after that work on other designs.

If you're waiting for me to open commissions, the wait is almost over. I fully expect to be able to take them on towards the end of June. Keep watching for more details!

Convention Schedule & May

Hello Moon Bun Fans!

I'm happy to announce that Moon's Creations will be at the following anime convention artist alleys.

I plan to have lots of fun designs as well as us the chance to chat face-to-face. Once I get more detail on my table location, I'll post that here.

Also, I know I've been very quiet lately, but as promised, I've been working on a month long series to make up for missing the 31 Amigurumi in October for 2012. This special event will take place during the month of May. K. Ryan (also known online as buboplague and fresh4u) and I are working together to create one unique design each day in the month of May based on fairy tales!

As this is the first big thing I've worked on since BabyBun, and K. Ryan has a lot on her personal plate right now, we need all the good wishes and encouragement you can muster. We're both excited, but we don't want to let you down.I've never been so excited, and apprehensive, for May 1st in my life!

Delay to shipping, next week

I will be out of town March 13 - 15, while I help my parents during my father's triple bi-pass surgery. Orders placed during this time will ship on Monday, March 18, when I return to the studio/Bunny Mines.

Classic vs New?

If you've visited Moon's Creations you may have noticed Moon Buns listed as Classic. What does that mean? When I reopened Moon's Creations after maternity leave, I had a soft launch of the redesigned Moon Buns.

New Moon Buns are larger, sturdier, have larger sized eyes, and I think a little cuter, but I may be biased. I decided to make the change, because my skills with crochet continue to advance and I'd like for my designs to reflect that.

As for the classic version, unless specifically requested for a custom order, I don't have any plans in the future to make the classic versions as general stock. Any stock now available will be allowed to expire (most on 2 February) and in essence, retire. However, if you're a fan of the classic version and want them to stick around, please let me know.  Your feedback is always important to me.

New things, New Year.

The holidays are here and I'm woefully behind. It's amazing how much time babies take out of the work day. Luckily, my little Baby Bun is starting to stick to a schedule I can work around and I expect to have more pieces made after the holidays.

Why after the holidays? because I have a sever case of tendonitis and I can't crochet. I'll be taking a short break over the holidays and hopefully let things rest. My shop will be closing on the evening of Thursday, 20 December,  and will reopen on Christmas Day, because I'm terrible about taking breaks. haha!

If I don't get a chance to write a new post before then, Joyous Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Jolly Kwanza, and have a wonderful New Year!

M.
