How to make your Moon Bun Stand up

I'm often asked how I make Moon Buns stand up and I've always said one day I'm going to take photos and show people how it's done. Well, I still haven't taken any photos, so I made this silly little drawing instead. I hope it will help those of you with fainting bunnies.Holding the Moon Bun's body, press up with your thumbs to flatten the bottom. The Moon Bun will now stand easily with it's newly flattened tushie.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

A young bun, living on the edge of the galaxy must learn the mystic ways of the Force, from a forgotten Jedi, to save a princess.
"If there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from."

"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope."

Luke Skywalker joins forces with a smuggler
"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

and Solo's first mate, a Wookie by the name of Chewbacca.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh"

I had to post this like an old school movie trailer. I'm so very excited about Stitch Wars. These pieces will be available for purchase through the show's website.

Mushrooms

We're still very new to our house, only calling it home for a little over a year and a half. Last year, we noticed in early summer several different varieties of mushrooms poking their heads up all over the lawn. This year, I was ready with a camera.

And this year the mushrooms didn't disappoint. If you're a fan of mushrooms like me, you can see all of the photos I took of our mushroom here.

Sorry to be a little late with today's free pattern feature, I've been under the gun trying to get work done.

But it was worth the wait. Isn't this the cutest pattern! Look at those widdle ears! I just want to wiggle them. *wiggle wiggle wiggle*

Things that make me smile

I love making Moon Buns, but sometimes I'm so close to my art that I get sick of it. I think, "If I make one more dang bunny, they are going to cart me off to a looney home." I wonder, who cares about these bunnies? What good are bunnies doing for the world?

It's times when I'm at my lowest, that I need a smile the most. A reason to keep at it. Thankfully, there are wonderful pick-me-up photos like this one of little Mary:

Have you ever seen such a cute little girl? I don't think so. This photo reminds me why I keep working on my art; to put a smile on other's faces.

Right, Mary?

Mary is the daughter of the amazing and inspirational artist RaggyRat.

Pieces for Stitch Wars

Finally completed my pieces for Stitch Wars. I felt I had to make the four main characters in their Episode IV attire. (Sorry no droids. All of my sketches of them looked rather silly.) I'm kicking myself right now looking at this photo, because it fails to capture all the details (especially Chewie's). I'll likely follow up this post with detail oriented shots of each main character.

The young Jawa Moon Bun Ootini likes to play with mouse droids. I tried a different technique with her eyes from previous Jawas. I think it makes them shine more.

Oola the Moon Bun, the Twi'lek dancer from Jabba's palace.
I just had to make her. When rewatchign the episodes I realized her lekku would look perfect as Moon Bun ears.

Lastly, my pride is Ghost Obi-Bun Kenobi. I have to admit I want to keep him. I've always wanted a ghost Jedi to tell me what the heck is going on. He was inspired by the hilarious video Star Wars: Retold (by someone who hasn't seen it).

All of these pieces will soon be packed up and on their way to Bird and Bear Boutique for Stitch Wars. Check out their site!

Things that make me smile

Something that makes me smile are photos of cats wearing hats. Not just cats wearing hats, but cats wearing handmade hats. The fact that someone loves their kitty so much to painstakingly knit up a tiny, little beany only to be rewarded with a face like this:

Or the popular cat response, lovingly called "I'm ignoring you until this hat goes away" look.

Although, there are those rare and wonderful cats who actually like their hats. They appreciate the love and time their owner put into crafting a jaunty little cap. They even pose for the camera to show off their new berets.

To those cat hat knitter, I tip my cap.
You give me smile when you risk life and kitty dignity to share your wonderful photos.

Geek Central Stations's Lightsaber

Maybe it's because I'm a big nerd for Star Wars, or maybe it's because I've been putting the finishing touches on my pieces for Stitch Wars this week, but I can't stop lovin' this great pattern for a lightsaber. I mean come on! It's a crocheted lightsaber.

When I get the time to make things for myself, I'll be adding this to my belt. Just in case. You never know when you might run into some Sith Lords or need to handle aliens in a cantina.

Mini Strawberry Cake and a Strawberry Moon Bun

The Plush Team is holding an Iron Chef styled competition. You can read more about it here on our blog.

My secret ingredient was Velcro. To make a food based plush out of this scratchy, stiff material, when I barely sew, was a great challenge, but I finally came up with a design I can be proud off.

This little strawberry cake is made from the fluffy half of the Velcro. There is a crocheted strawberry on top that is affixed with Velcro and can be detached. The cake is then dressed up with ribbons, bows, and lace. It is then attached (by Velcro of course) to a mini stiff felt plate.

To accompany this cake, is a little Strawberry Moon Bun!

This piece is currently available for sale in my shop. To see who's plush will reign supreme, keep watching the Plush Team blog!
