Storybook and Fairytale Project with the PlushTeam!

Over at the Plush Team, we're working on a wonderful idea, by creating designs based on a partner's favorite storybook or fairytale.

Let me just say, I'm in love with this project! Not only is it because I helped plan it, but fairy stories are one of my most favorite things. I took numerous classes in college covering fairy tales, so this project is so wonderful I could dance. *kicks heels up*

My partner is the very talented voododoll (her shop is here: http://www.voododoll.etsy.com

She was so sweet to let me choose from 3 story books:
1 The Tinder-Box
2 The Beast in the bathtub
3 Alice in Wonderland

If you know me, you'll know I'm an Alice freak (to the point that this name is near my top for daughters), so I was immediately tempted by this choice. However I also soon realized my mind was abuzz with making every character from both books. Although I'd love to do this in the future and probably will, I couldn't commit to making the entire set at this time.

So my choice is The Tinder-Box!
I love this story by Hans Christian Andersen and the story is full of beautiful imagery.

I've still got lots of work to clear off my plate first, but I'll be updating soon on my progress! In the mean time, keep crafty!

Edited to Add: Here's a wonderful site containing the story for those of you not familiar with The Tinder-Box.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I've got so much to do lately.

This month, challenged myself to list one new amigurumi in my shop every day. Hopefully my fingers don't fall off.

Other things grabbing at my time include a few very large amigurumi sets I'm determined to make this year, commissions and a few belated birthday gifts. (d'oh!) Mr. Moon and I are also going to try again for a baby Moon this month. Wish us luck!

Aromatherapy Amigurumi!

I've always been interested in aromatherapy and loved the idea of a lavender filled amigurumi. The only problem was keeping all those tiny little buds from working their way out of the fabric. After a lot of trial and error, I've found a way to confine the lavender nicely in the dolls.

Malie is my first piece that includes real lavender safely tucked inside. She's also the first to have a completely knitted dress.

I plan to do several new designs using aromatherapy in the future.

New Designs!

Some days, I just want to say "If I make another bunny, I'm gonna scream!" Well, because of these feelings, I've created two new designs!

This is a Floppy Bear. I call them that, because they are lightly stuffed and their heads are so big they sorta just flop. I use natural fiber blends for their yarn and it really creates a nice squeezeable bear.

This is Droplet. I love, love, love the simplicity of the design. It's so simple, yet so expressive and cute. Simple is best! I plan to make several and string them to a mobile. (Mr. Moon and I are hoping to add a baby Moon. Wish us luck!)
