Owlishly's Sleepy Sarah amigurumi pattern

If you're not familiar with Owlishly, I highly recommend becoming acquainted.
She creates amigurumi that have a unique look and I'm always blown away with her designs.

This darling little pattern, called Sleepy Sarah, is inspired by the sweet waldorf dolls you can find throughout Etsy. I adore how Owlishly cleverly created that darling pointed hat.

Greening Your Amigurumi

When I first started knitting, I was a poor, poor woman. (Now I'm just a poor woman. lol) I was lucky enough to meet a talented artist who used recycled yarns. These were yarns she had reclaimed from sweaters purchased from thrift stores.

After reading Asley Martineau's wonderful tutorial, I was ready to try it. Through trial and error, I managed to get quite a bit of yarn at the fraction of the price and feed my knitting habit.

Although I still love knitting, I spend more of my time crocheting. With thoughts on greening my work at Moon's Creations, I've turned again to unraveling sweaters and reusing the yarn to make amigurumi. Not only is it recycling, but it also creates a unique and truly one of a kind look to your art.

If you're low on money for crafting or just want to be more environmental with your craft, I highly encourage you to start recycling sweaters.

Plus it's lots of fun unraveling knitted items!

10 Simple Things

Over the weekend of wonderful weather, I managed to mangle my hand, so I'm on forced vacation until I heal up. But rather than focus on the negative, let's focus on the positive.

Here are 10 simple things that make me smile:

♥ Starting a new notebook. Mmm, fresh pages.
♥ Sleeping in on clean, line-dried sheets.
♥ Having a plan.
♥ That tingly feeling of awesome after exercising.
♥ Driving with the windows down.
♥ Squeezing the hell out of bread dough.
♥ Foggy Days
♥ Rubbing puppy and kitty bellies.
♥ Reading the newspaper.
♥ Finding spiderwebs in the morning dew.

Ok, now your turn! What are 10 things that make you smile?

Amigurumi Charm Bracelet by BirdlandCreations

Several months ago I asked BirdlandCreations to recreate a Moon Bun in silver.
She was so professional and wonderful about my custom order. She even made an extra so I could choose my favorite. She's now selling the extra and I highly encourage Moon Bun fans to snap this beautiful silver bracelet up.

Does Giving = Receiving?

In my experience, the answer is, "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
In the early days of Moon's Creations, I created my first Moon Bun to Raise Funds for the CCFA, due to a very dear friend's illness.

To date, I've been able to donated over $200 to the CCFA through the sale of Moon Buns to Raise Funds. Since then, I've added several special Moon Buns to support other noble charities.

The $20 (USD) sale of these Moon Buns goes directly to the charity. I usually lose money on these special bunnies, but it makes me feel good to give back to charities. I love being able to donate my time to make items that people will love and will help others.

The funny thing is, when I send in money to a charity from the sale of Moon Buns to Raise Funds, I always see a spike in regular Moon Bun sales. Sometimes it's a big spike, sometimes it's just a little spike, but there is always a spike.

Is this Karma? Divine Destiny?
Whatever it is, I highly encourage others to consider giving in whatever way they can. By giving of yourself you will always receive, maybe not money, but definitely in good will.

If you would be interested in donating yarn for Moon Buns to Raise Funds, please contact me at moons_creations@yahoo.com

1000 Awesome Things

awesome!!!!!

I spend a lot of time online.
Today, I thought I'd share one of of my favorite stops during the day.

1000 Awesome Things is a wonderful blog that's updated week-daily. It's a delightful countdown from 1000 of things that make life worth living. Small things like #981 Wearing underwear just out of the dryer, #956 Using Rock-Paper-Scissors to settle anything and #928 Eating foods you loved when you were a kid.

Each entry is a delight to read. It doesn't hurt that the man behind the blog is a delightful writer. Even Rhino from Bolt thinks this blog is Awesome!
