Fasten off, leaving a long tailing end. Use tailing end to stitch closed tube.

Stitch the arms and legs to the body using the embroidery floss. Like the image below.

Cut grey felt into zipper teeth and a zipper pull. Glue onto the doll's tummy. See the first image of this post.

Once you've perfected making plain Sackboys, you can begin to make detailed Sackboys and Sackgirls.

Additional Notes:
Making the fingers is a little confusing, but if you’ve made an octopus, it’s not very different. You’re going to be making 5 short “tentacles” at the end of the arm tube.
Below are some step-by-step photos on making the hands.

At the end of the increase to 9 stitches.

Chain 2

turn the work, 2 sc back to tube. (First finger is done)

Slip Stitch in the next stitch next to the finger you've just completed.

Chain 3, turn the work and sc 2 back to the tube base. repeat this for the remaining 3 fingers.

After you've completed the fingers and broken the yarn, stitch the open tube closed.

The palm of the hand will look like this once you've finished stitching it together.

How can I make a "life size" sackboy? (6 in/15 cm)

Moon's Creations said...

Andrew, I'd recommend using a large hook and a heavier weight yarn.

I can't seem to figure out for the life of me how to do the fingers. When you say, "2sc back to tube" what exactly does that mean...sc in the chain, or sc back on the round?

Moon's Creations said...

Paige,
You will want to make 2 sc in the chain you made for the finger.
